  1. Someone needs to pitch Fanfest Niagara Falls. And I mostly say that because it would be able to go to one of these events XD.

  3. Hi GT, Mithron Scarlet here,

I really hate this BLU concept. It's not a job, it's just side content you'll do when you're bored of playing the real game. They consolidated BRD, DRK and RDM (and ROG/NIN) to be completely different than their historical counterparts, why didn't they do it with BLU? BLU has been a solid staple since FF5, it's not only in FF11. BLU has been in FF5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 with many different ways of obtaining their abilities, while having no restrictions to how many abilities you had access to at once.

I always theorized BLU as a tank in 14, with MT stance being !Learning: being hit allows access to defensive/utility abilities like mighty guard/white wind etc., OT stance being Lancet: hitting enemies allows access to offensive abilities like bad breath/1000 needles etc., there. Boom. Problem solved. BLU is now a real job and you can main it in real content and everyone's happy and satisfied. Just make them learn all their abilities with a new job quest every level that requires them to go out and get hit by whatever instance duty enemy required for it. The idea of "it must be in the real world to learn new skills!" is silly and that's not the only thing that defines the fantasy of BLU. If they can consolidate BRD into a Ranger, a Dark Knight into a tank that doesn't sacrifice HP, and Red Mage into a master of DPS with some heals, then they could do the same for BLU.

They shouldn't have wasted this solo content idea on BLU. Use more obscure jobs that have little FF history/fans behind them like Beastmaster and Puppetmaster for this. Beastmaster was only in 5 and 11, Puppetmaster only in 11. They brought AST and MCH, they were only in Tactics unless you count FF4 Cid, FF6 Edgar, FF7 Barret, FF8 Irvine and FF10 Rikku for machinist. But BLU has a long history with many fans fantasizing of being a BLU with their friends in relevant end-game content like current savage raids. Now that'll never happen and it sucks.

I'm also a little disappointed we're getting even more data centers since DF/PF wait times are already way too bad, but that's pretty much all my complaints about the future of XIV from this fanfest. I'm so hyped about pretty much everything else. I think Vierra are gonna be great even if I probably won't play as one, and I'm really hoping to see some Tactics Advanced easter eggs in the final Ivalice raid series. Bring on the DRK expansion!

    1. I just find the whole "we aren't sure how to balance this, so BLU is a limited class" thing confusing. The only real difference seems to be how they learn abilities. So maybe instead of learning abilities when you level or do quests there's just a guy you talk to that says "Hey, those Malboros have been talking smack about you, you should fight them and see what happens."
